Do people get the difference between British and English?

England is a constituent country of the United Kingdom, which includes Great Britain (England, Scotland, Wales) and Northern Ireland.
Therefore English are also Brits, but Brits aren't necessarily English.
If you took a poll of Americans, about three-quarters of them would say, "WTF are you talking about?" Seriously. We don't have a clue.
However, even for the other quarter, English and British are absolutely interchangeable - although I know they shouldn't be, they are for me, too. I will generally refer to anyone with an accent as being English; I'd bet most people who understand the difference would do the same.
I want the doctor to take your picture so I can look at you from inside as well.
The British are crazy, the English are nuts.
