Why didn't they bring parachutes from the transport plane?

In the end when they set up the zipline between the planes, couldn't they have brought over some parachutes so that the people on AF1 could have jumped out?

They were over water. They would've landed in the middle of nowhere with nobody to pick them up.

Too low altitude for the chute to unfold and properly break the fall. Damn you Americans are really beyond dumb. A three year old should understand that really.
