Air force one vs executive decision

Which is better?

reply

That's a really good question. I guess Air Force One has more action throughout whereas ED is primarily about the drama. I think I prefer watching ED myself.

Hey! You're not old enough to drink! Now go and die for your country!!!

Both films are great action packed extravaganzas.

But Air Force One doesn't have Steven Seagal.

And Executive Decision has David Suchet.

But Air Force One has more explosions.

Executive Decision is more based on hijackers taking over a commercial airliner and AFO is obviously political in nature.

AFO has a supposed good guy betraying his country and government whilst ED has no such subterfuge.

One film is directed by a legendary, acclaimed director noted for classics. Whilst the other isn't.

ED benefits from Halle Berry as a gutsy flight attendant, AFO has a female Vice President and Glenn Close does well.

AFO has a more extensive cast and a strong lead man. EDs lead man is strong but loses out against Ford.

AFO features some truly appalling visual effects, particularly near the end. EDs visual effects are genuinely quite brilliant.

AFO makes me cry, ED does not.

Any film with Gary Oldman in can't be that bad. Some notable exceptions, or just one, Lost in Space. Just my opinion.

Executive Decision, by miles. ED was an adrenaline rush with some kick ass action and one of the best endings I've ever seen in an action flick. Air Force One was a mainstream lame ass movie without suspense, or thrilling action, and if only I could have said that I enjoyed the characters, but even there it was a total waste of tallent (Glenn Close, Harrison Ford and Gary Oldman, really?). Come on AFO had a way stronger cast than ED, how come that I enjoyed more seing Seagal than Oldman in a movie?!

reply

I thougt Oldman was miscast. He didnt pull it off for me. In ED the pace was better and i like the characters and tech much more. Plus seeing Segal die is always refreshing from his usual cockiness. Both are better than Turbulance. But check out
Panic Room and Flight Plan.

reply

That's funny because I have the exact opposite feelings towards these movies. Air Force One is a kickass action movie and Executive Decision is a lame ass movie lacking in suspense and action. I thought Air Force One had more and better action scenes, Harrison Ford kicked ass, Gary Oldman was a great villain, the story was much more interesting. Executive Decision had some of the most lackluster action scenes I have ever seen in a big budget action film. It was never exciting due to the bland direction and poor writing. Kurt Russell was completely wasted. I have no idea what you mean by "one of the best endings [you've] ever seen in an action flick, because I thought it was complete bollocks (commandos I don't care about killing terrorists I don't care about in the most generic way imaginable and Kurt Russell landing the plane in a sequence that was done better in Airplane! (1980)). Executive Decision, to me, is the epitome of lackluster, but, to each their own.

reply

Exactly, each his own. I know more people who share my opinion though.

reply

Air Force One by a landslide. Executive Decision was very boring.

reply

Air Force One. But I own and enjoy both.

Milo, I've told you again and again - please, don't walk on the chickens!
