The first one of these projects is probably unexpected by most fans: it’s an animated Stargate series. The animated series is currently in development at MGM. While they’re working on it, they’re unclear on where the series will land. The second series is an adult Stargate series. On this second project, MGM is currently working to partner with a streaming service to bring the series to life. It seems most likely that Amazon will be the new home for these MGM series since Amazon announced their intentions to buy the legendary studio back in May.
Last stargate show they put out was utter crap. The odds of a new one being any good are very, very low.
We are not moving in the direction where new shows are more intelligent/creative - the current trajectory is very much the opposite. The wokeville era is killing it, but I suspect there's more to that than mere ideology - because like I said before, it's the lack of intelligence and creativity that's causing all new shows to suck. Perhaps studios should start making TV shows based on books which were written decades ago, since the contemporary scriptwriters lack the same intelligence/creativity.
Ya, a reboot will probably suck. I rarely find any entertainment good these days. They all have either bad plots or ideological purposes.
Worst example in recent memory was Mass Effect: Andromeda. The good guys invade another galaxy. Steal the technology of the ancients in that galaxy. Then kill the indigenous inhabitants for not accepting the correct views of diversity and inter-species/inter-sex love.
