I think it's still liked. The stars probably still go to ComicCon. Kids now have other content available and do a lot more gaming than watching tv though.

I think it's just a matter of time untill there's another Stargate tv show. So many possibilities in my opinion.You can stream it on Stan ( an Australian streaming service). I'm watching it right now! This post made me nostalgic the other day when I read it, so I started watching it again.

Haha. That’s a good one. “Hathor” is the one in which Daniel has sex with the goa’uld queen who gives birth to larva and Sam has to stop her.

By the way, the disappearance from tv might be partly a result of how the rules of financing of tv production has changed, and an indirect effect on syndicated programming.

I watched the film recently because it seemed like the type of thing I would enjoy. I thought it was so bad that I would give it a 1/10, so I'm not optimistic about the TV series if fans are saying they thought that even the film was good.

1/10 is extremely harsh. I don't think I've ever even seen a movie I would rate 1/10. And I've seen some shockers!

I watched it recently. It's certainly dated, in special effects, theme, the stylistic choices. But I would assume you'd account for those in your judgement? It's really all about what you like, though.

Re the tv series...Not tempted by Richard Dean Anderson? Not even a little bit? I mean, it's MacGyver!

This show truly ran the line well of being able to present dramatic and dark themes yet still have humor and joy. There was enough science fiction with the action, and the chemistry between the main characters was great

Two things happen. One is trolling. The second is people who mistake their opinion for truth. You're one of the two.

The show is not crap. If you don't like it, you don't like it. However, your OPINION is not widely held, and does not accurately reflect the quality of the series.

Shows that are "Crap" do not survive for ten seasons and two successful follow-up movies.

That's a somewhat fair point...I just didn't think it was necessary to point out that my opinion was my opinion.
Everyone says "I love the show" or "I didn't like the show", that doesn't mean what they say is presented as fact, especially not when it comes to something as subjective as media.
I would bet you dislike something that has been popular enough to survive for years or decades...your subjective opinion is still that it's crap.

Nope, if I don't like something, I know specifically why it doesn't appeal to my taste, and I don't spend my time trolling it's fans.

You said nothing about "in my opinion". You gave no reasons at all why you dislike it. All you did was make a statement that you probably knew would cause disfavor with millions of fans of the series ... or at least the few of them who find this board. LOL

If you can make a statement like that in public, don't be shocked to be called out. It happens.

I do find its not always possible to articulate why i dislike (or like) something. The important thing if that is the case is to admit that you opinion is personal and not to be taken as an objective evaluation.

Example: I don't like Ray Bradbury's writing. I can't tell you why. I freely admit that his writing is beautiful, he is a skilled storyteller and his fame, and popularity are well deserved. My dislike should not influence anyone to avoid him because many adore him, and they should. He just, for some reason, does not appeal to me.

I don't have a problem with someone who can't explain their dislike, thought they should try. I do have a problem with posters who not just dislike something, but declare it objectively bad, disparage those who do like it, or question why it is popular. (After all, to them, if they don't like it no one should and it is incomprehensible for any rational person to disagree with them.)

I don't mind the show but my biggest problem with it is getting past Richard Dean Anderson. Unfortunately he will never escape the shadow of MacGyver. When I see him on this show I keep referring to his character as 'MacGyver.' Also, I'm not necessarily anti-gun but it just feels wrong on so many levels to see MacGyver holding a gun.

I remember the Sci-Fi channel would air reruns of the show from 7pm to 10pm and I would work on my chemistry homework during that time. Gosh it feels like the good old days xD

I really liked the last three seasons switched over to Arthurian Legend and we got Ben Browder and Claudia Black from Farscape as main characters : )

My favorite villians are still
Apophis
Ba'al
Socar (I really wish we got more screentime for this baddie!!!!)
and Anubis tops it all off ; )

I watched lots of reruns too. I liked Hathor the most of all the villains, mostly because the character explores goa’uld reproduction which is rarely explored in the series and is sexy and mysterious.

Having stumbled upon SG1 rather randomly in syndication, I was surprised how entertaining I found it. It all seemed a bit silly, but they carried it off with style and conviction. Not much different than the Star Trek shows, and in the best way.

Yes, definitely feels like a more “fun” version of Star Trek with a greater sense of cynicism and self awareness.
