Yes, unfortunately. The single thing the reboot had going for it was a larger budget and better technology/cinematography for "flashy" action-packed scenes. But it was all flash and little substance. A new series needed to be created with emphasis on the dark, oppressive, brutal environment and amazing casting choices. All of which the new show did not have. Now, because of the stain of the new show and it having not fared well, a new tv series more in the vein of the original series or films will likely not happen for a very long time, if ever.
That newer show just left a really bad taste for me. They even stole elements from LFN and didn't give a single credit, homage, or kind comment that I'm aware of. In fact, some of the cast - mainly Maggie Q made disrespectful, dismissive remarks about LFN. But she (and the other cast) will always be known as the far-inferior successor.
