I used to think the cop that comes to Barry Rollins' house in "Cops And Robert" was incompetent and lazy. Looking back , I realize: what could the cop do?

All Barry Rollins could give him about his mugger was that the man was about 40 years old, wore glasses and was about 6' tall. What's the cop going to do? Drive around Arlen and interrogate every middle-aged tall man with glasses the cop sees?

That cop didn't seem to take his job that seriously.
