Did i miss something or was he just written off wothout any explanation?

I think the last time you see him is shortly after Bessie's Baby was born.

Wasn't he on the episode where they were opening the Bed & Breakfast at Joey and Bessie's house?

I know there were times they made references to why he couldn't be there for something.

You're correct he was in that episode.

He was also on episodes late in season four. I just watched the episode where Joey got into Worthington, and he was there.

He was always around, I'm fairly certain he was seen in various Season 6 scenes as well, just non-speaking. He wasn't much of a character unto himself, at least not after Season 1. I figure they still wanted to show he was a presence though, because otherwise we would've had to deal with a "Bessie and Alexander are abandoned, again" storyline.

I was watching season four last night and they allude to the fact that he's working in Dawson's family's restaurant.
