I mean, solely by what we see, probably Kendra, but only because we saw her do any sort of fighting on the show; whereas too often Tara got Giles'd out of combat, somehow - brain sucked, enthralled by Sweet, or just not involved in a major fight.
I'd love to see it though, and see Tara in a position where she actually got mad and used her powers, either in a severe defensive situation, or offensive; even in a fit of fury. It was always one sided between Tara and Willow, Willow always being the one who had to fly off the handle, because someone hurt "her woman". The two main scenarios I would have liked to have seen the dynamic reversed would either be when Tara got brain sucked by Glory and Willow went out for blood; or when Tara was shot and Willow went off the deep-end. A juxtaposition of roles in one of those scenarios would have been interesting in its own right; then to see it mirrored when the other does the same thing, seeing that their love be so such that it evokes the same sort of reaction from both of them in dire situations. I would have preferred to see them equally protective of each other, than being so lopsided.
I think it would have made more sense form a story standpoint, if Willow had been the one Glory had found. The only thing that fit there was Glory's minions mistaking Tara for the Key, with her being new, but she could have tried using Willow to bait Tara. In terms of the setup and the fight between Tara and Willow, it would have made more sense for Willow to be the one who goes out to clear her head, so to speak, because the fight was mostly about her - whether or not her feelings for Tara were genuine, if what she was doing with magic should scare Tara. Willow had more reason to step away from that upset, and end up on that bench; with Tara trying to look for her. Plus, I think it would have had a much greater impact to see Willow of all people, after 5 years of her being the brains and a powerful witch, be struck down that way by Glory. It would have made the fight that much more personal; and people would have been cheering for Tara responding by going after Glory.
On the other hand, killing off Willow at the hands of Warren would have been unexpected, and a dynamic shift as Tara essentially becomes her substitute in the group. She could have gone just as dark as Willow did, in response to her death; and you side step the issue of not being able to bring her back, like Buffy was, because the one who did that, who had that kind of power is gone. Xander could have still been the one to stop her, even using the same story about Willow and him in kindergarten; letting her know it's okay to remember Willow and to share the grief with other people.
And the First totally could have been played by Allison Hannigan throughout season 7! That's how you keep her on the show, as this creepy, malevolent spirit wearing their friend's face; and making her deliciously evil. Then maybe they bring her back to life in the end. Or not...
Sorry, what was the question?
"Sorry, I mistook you for a corpse."
