whats with alice going in the fridge? was she tripping too? i don't get the joke

I came here to ask the same thing! I've been watching this movie for years and I never understood if she was high (or whatever) as well or they were just making fun of the Fact that in the original show they really never showed Alice's room... I dont know if they did or didnt cause I didn't watch the tv show that much. Also since they make light of the fact that they are a 70's family and with all the drug references, I thought they were kinda saying that she's accustomed to these side effects and so she wasn't really "tripping" and actually held her own better than Roy. Oh well, guess she really was...

I thought that too, at least when i was a kid... now? pretty obvious she was tripping

Roy has shrooms.
Alice finds them, cooks them, and feeds them to him.
Roy trips out, Carol asks Alice, Alice clearly and blatantly says "I had some as well...".
Alice steps into fridge no less than 30 seconds later.

The joke could not have been more obvious, short of a large flashing marquee over the screen that explained it.

When you're 17 a cow can seem dangerous and forbidden...am I alone here?
