Anyone else fine the Greg/Marcia scenes disturbing?

Even though they're stepbrother & stepsister, they're brother & sister nonetheless. Except fot those scenes, the movie was still hilarious nonetheless.

NOPE..........he should have tapped that ass LONG.......time ago!!

I didn't find it strange either...its plain as day they are NOT related by blood, and what's wrong with being attracted to someone living you with your own age??? it was not incestous!

Nope, not disturbing at all. They don't become STEP-siblings until their teenagers, so it's not like they grew up together as brother & sister.

But, either way, they are not related at all.

anyone on this board ever seen curb your enthusiasm? step counts.

reply

I think they were playing off the real-life actual events between the two when they were filming the TV episodes in Hawaii.

reply

I didn't find it disturbing, but actually found it hilarious because I thought of it a nod to the fact that Barry Williams and Maureen McCormick (the original Greg and Marcia Brady)had an off-screen relationship. Once you think of it that way, it makes those scenes a little bit funnier. In my opinion, anyway. Some still might still think it's gross.

reply

Not really.

well, wasn't it playing off the common perception that there was this weird sexual tension btw greg and marcia on the original show, in the later seasons? i thought people used to make fun of that even before it was revealed that they were hooking up in real life

i think the original actors even said themselves that you can see it onscreen, and the producers started actively putting them in less scenes together, because it was so obvious. by 1996 that was widely known, it was one of the famous trivia things about the show, so the joke was pretty on point

reply

Yup.

Not being blood-related, there's no biological issue.

But based on other, more synthetic issues, it makes sense we'd all be creeped out by it.

It was clear they were poking fun at the actors in real life having diddled around, but after the initial shock the humor content quickly went down and became "ewww"...

Disturbed enough!
