In watching His Girl Friday tonight, I was struck by how similar the dynamic between Cary Grant and Rosalind Russell is to that between Bill Paxton and Helen Hunt in Twister. Indeed, the two movies share a major plot dynamic -- a formerly married couple in the same profession who have broken up are reunited as one is on the verge of getting remarried, on the day when a major event in their profession unfolds.share
Afterwards, I was surprised to discover that Michael Chricton, who was a screenwriter for Twister, was thinking of His Girl Friday in his conception of the story.
