The awkwardness between Bill's fiance and Jo and her team (SPOILERS)

SPOILERS.

It is so cringeworthy that it isn't even funny. When the fiance said that she wanted to tag along, Bill should have mentioned that things could get unpredictable and dangerous with the weather.

Bill's fiance "Melissa" added a little bit of comedy to the movie, but it was still painful to watch - the fact that she didn't fit in with them lot at all.

To be honest, that scenario made most of the characters more unlikable not including Melissa, i felt for the poor woman, she had no idea what she was letting herself in for, and like she said in one scene "Bill never really told me about any of this" and he never gave her a heads up of how things could get, he practically put her in that situation, if he'd had told her how bad things can easily get and she still wanted to tag along, then that would have been on her, but he said nothing except for "This is what they do, they live for this".

The writers used the character of Melissa to explain the supposed "science" of tornados to the audience. She was basically in the same position we as the audience are as we first see this unintentionally hilarious and yes...awkward movie.

And yes I agree with you the way the wrote this situation makes things a little sketchy and awkward at times. In reality Bill would tell her, "This is no place for you we should leave." End of story.
