do guys really talk like this with each other?

Just seemed kind of like the way women talk.... how long do I wait to call her? What should I say? Asking how each other's dates went... etc etc. I never thought guys would discuss their love/sex lives so much with each other in a group setting (borderline on obsessing?) :)

Some do, some don't.

When alcohol is involved, more stories about sex tend to come out.

I talk like this with some of my best friends, especially when I'm single or any one of them is trying to get some action. It's worth noting that quite a few people (especially guys) mistake me for being homosexual, however, so I'd assume this isn't considered a "manly" conversation.

That said, I'm pretty sure that guys who talk to each other about this stuff tend to have better luck with the ladies. And the way Mike felt about his breakup in this movie, and everything leading up to him finding a new girl, reminds me so much of my own life that the movie is almost hard to watch at times. My friends basically cheered me up the same way his friends do, to boot. Although, none of us ever net girls quite as easily as Vince Vaughn ;)

Regular blokes talk about sport, mainly football.

Some of us "regular blokes" like women. You can go get all sweaty with your "mates"--there's nothing wrong with that lifestyle, and it's obviously accepted--but there's some of us, like me, that prefer the company of a woman.

And when we were young and inexperienced, we certainly DID try to help each other with the ladies and give each other advice. That's what friends DO.

Mostly this is Vince Vaughn leading the pack with the conversational style here.

I imagine he did talk like this, or something close.

There is nothing wrong with it. I imagine some women react to it in the way that is every guys's dream.

Hey, I'm a short, squat average looking Serbian guy. Even at my best 30 years ago I never had the piss and vinegar that Vaughn had in this film.

But I don't begrudge him any of his bluster. Guys have it tough out there. Even the most emboldened guy gets shot down 9 times outta 10. Anybody out there trying is a better man than I.

The weak, the wallflowers, the worriers, the wonderers get left behind with women.

Only if you take a stand and assert yourself do you have a chance. Trent might be over the top, but at least he is taking a shot.

I'm on a break-up right now and I've been talking like this with all my closest friends since it happened lol.
