True, blackjack often sucks, and the player will frequently lose to the house.

That said, the casino scenes in Swingers were perfect, "Always double down on 11" has become a part of the popular vernacular on account of this scene,

Also: "any kind of Glen."

Black Jack has the best odds of any game in a casino. In the long run you will lose about 52-55% of the time, depending on what the payout is for 21 and whether or not a dealer has to hit on a soft 17, and a few other variables from casino to casino.

Which is not bad considering you get free drinks and are entertained.

But that's only if you play black jack "the correct way". But people always do stupid things like hit on 15 when the dealer is showing a 14, for example. Doing that blows up your odds and you end up losing a lot more often.
