I agree with Chuck Jones...

...Just about all the Looney Tunes act completely out of character in this, primarily in the case of Bugs Bunny. Bugs Bunny is supposed to be much more clever and self-reliant than he's portrayed here, and would've been able to outsmart the aliens and save the world...And in just a span of seven whole minutes, at least.

Chuck Jones didn't like Space Jam, in fact he hated it, and found it absurd how they could've stretched such a nonsensical, character betraying story to 90 whole minutes.

I also would agree with Jones on the character of Lola Bunny, she's a totally useless character, good thing the people behind Cartoon Network's short lived Looney Tunes series revamped the character and made her actually looney( Being voiced by Kristen Wiig helped a lot too).

Considering all the Looney Tunes went through personality changes over the 50 or so years between when they first appeared and space jam, what was his point?

On the "The Arrival" (released the same year,1996) board someone said it looked too 1990s. Hell I'd rather watch The Arrival than Space Jam.

It's pretty unavoidable that you have to make changes, especially making Bugs and the others less powerful, when you've got both a larger cast and longer runtime.

That there are some changes to the characters doesn't mean it's a betrayal.

it was a funny film with nothing heavy happening, just a fun time.

It's a kids film, and adults always have to hate on kids films. Space Jam was wicked fun, and does not deserve the hate it gets from the adults who didn't enjoy it.

agreed.
