... point being that they were featuring NBA players, and Iverson could not legally have worn an NBA jersey for any of the scenes mimicking NBA games (legally from the perspective of the NCAA). Plus, he would not have fit into the whole "NBA players are under assault" aspect.
Also, I do not recall Iverson really being a household name circa the summer of 1995, when the filmmakers shot Space Jam. Sure, he was a rising star in college, but he was coming off a freshman year where he shot .390 from the field and .232 on threes. He became a collegiate superstar as a sophomore.
