Well most of the time rape in itself is rarely sexual. It's used because it's inflicts pain and humiliation in a horrific way. The rape, beating and torture well because he was mean.

As with the sexual abuse, it wasn't actually about sex. It was about having complete and total control over four young kids who were too scared to fight back. It was all just a massive power trip to him. He feed on that fear, like an addict with a heroin addiction. Fear and power were his heroin.
