My favorite Dustin Hoffman role!

Danny Snyder has to be my favorite Dustin Hoffman role ever. Did he get any recognition for his brilliantly underplayed part in this film? As much as I love the entire movie, I walk away always remembering Hoffman. Anybody else?

reply

pretty much every character in the movie is the same name as in the book. Yet in the book he is Danny O"Connor not Danny Snyder. I've always wondered why that is

" Tell me mom...when your little girl's on the slab...where will it tickle you?"

reply

Maybe Snyder is a less Irish? But, yeah, good question.

reply

Maybe because Hoffman is so clearly Jewish and not Irish?

Whose idea was it for the word "Lisp" to have an "S" in it?

reply

Any idea why Ebert called this film homophobic? The characters were tortured and brutalized by men in power. Had nothing to do with sex. Or am I missing something?

reply

You're not missing anything, Ebert was really ignorant on this one.

reply

They were tortured and brutalized by gay paedophiles.

reply

Ebert must think that the events in the film depict the normal behavior of gay men...
