Melissa thought he might be the man of her dreams. For their first official date, Scott took Melissa to a fraternity party. All through the party, he was a perfect gentleman. Then they started drinking beer and jello shooters. Then, Scott took Melissa upstairs to his room and played some music , but things went very differently when they started making out. The 2 started kissing, but a short time later, Melissa started to feel uncomfortable. Melissa tried to defuse the situation by treating it as a joke. But Scott wasn't joking and before Melissa could stop him, he was on top of her. Melissa was terrified but resisted. Before Melissa could react, Scott overpowered her. She tried to fight him off but failed, then he began to rape her. Melissa was in total shock. She couldn't scream. She just shut down. Scott realized Melissa was serious. There'd be no sex. He gave up trying and without a word of apology, he just stood there while she ran off. He seemed genuinely sorry. After being raped by a man she knew, Melissa was completely devasted. For hours, Melissa lay in bed, tired and confused and her mind racing. She couldn't believe what had happened and she didn't think anyone else on campus would believe it either. At first, Melissa didn't tell anyone what had happened. but after a whole month of loneliness and doubt, she told the doctor who advised her to tell her parents. Her parents said Melissa had the option of going to the police. But that was a step she couldn't take just yet. Then she ran into Scott in the hallway. Melissa went to the police who warned her that a rape case would be hard to prove. But Melissa wasn't going to give up now. She went to the dean of students and demanded an on campus trial. The trial found Scott not guilty but Melissa wasn't going to let it stop there. She made a tape of the frat party to prove that Scott was guilty and his fraternity home was then closed. For the rest of her years of College, Melissa lectures on campus. She is determined to make sure that date rape does not remain a crime of silence.
this movie was stupid, and the main girl was even stupider when she screamed in one part later on in the movie, when the guy hadn't even done anything to her in that particular scene. I mean you don't just scream for no reason.
sharei'm sure everytime she saw her *beep* rapist in the hallways, stairwells, outside the college, where ever she would want to scream - No MEANS *beep* NO !!! But some guys just do NOT get it!! Also Scott and his little Frat freaks had their little set up where they would get the girls totally wasted (which the girls shoulda left right there before the drinking started- thats there only fault) and bring them upstairs; i bet you half of those girls were so passed out they had no idea they were raped - until the next day bc they "stupidly" got drunk.. but if they are drunk & awake and they say NO to having sex than the Frat *beep* should STOP.. Sad half these frat boys have to get a girl wasted got get sex.. now not all frat boys are bad, i've met quite a few who aren't like the Scott's of this world, too bad they have MORE creeps though.
