Why did Hummel's men kill him?
I just don't get that. Why exactly did they kill him?
shareDidn't you watch the movie carefully enough? When Hummel decided to divert the rocket from San Francisco into the sea, his men were really pissed off that the rocket attack never occurred and plus, two of Hummel's men -- Frye and Darrow -- were fairly new and had the first time working with him. Almost all of the men working for Hummel were mercenaries. In addition, Hummel announced that there was no money as the originally supposed to be carried out. So Frye and Darrow decided to rebel against Hummel and hold him hostage then when another officer loyal to Hummel shoots the two men holding the hostage, all hell break loose and Hummel was killed in the shootout.
shareand why did they want to fire the missile at San Francisco anyway?
shareIt is EXTREMELY stupid of Frye,Darrow and Crisp to want to fire the LAST missile into the heart of San Fransisco and expect to get the Fu--in´ money.
If Mason or Godspeed...or perhaps someone else loyal to the general would get hold of coms and tell the FBI or those in charge that was the last missile, they would be extremely toast....it would just be an extreme gamble. If the government wouldn´t budge after the attack, they would have zero missiles to show they really mean business...
I´m not about to kill 80,000 innocent people, you think I´m out of my fu--ing mind?? Yes,many thought that....which makes it the best line in the movie.
Personally I've always thought Frye and Darrow seemed like loose cannons. Some of the other officers and the Staff Sergeant were familiar with Hummel, but those two were just too bloodthirsty. That was demonstrated ably in the shower scene.
shareYeah they struck me as a bit unhinged too. As soon as they realised they risked the rest of their lives in Leavenworth for nothing they completely flipped and wanted some sort of return for all the trouble.
I've had a lot of sobering thoughts in my time Del Boy, it's them that started me drinking!
