This movie really isn't that good

The characters are forgettable, the action scenes are nothing special and the side comedy that Michael Bay likes to throw in was just painfully stupid (ie. the black woman in the prison cell saying how she should have brought her gun to blow away all of the marines, yeah like a normal person would react that way in that situation).

You're lucky the IMDb wants to keep your account open, cause I'd take pleasure in guttin' you boy.

Are you kidding? This movie was as iconic to me as Top Gun and ID4. I will always remember that SEALs scene, and quotes like "put the bunny back in the box".

reply

"Bunny in the box"?
Wasn't that from "Con-Air"?

Yeah it was. Another crap Nicolas Cage movie just like every one he's ever been in outside of Raising Arizona and Windtalkers. Can't believe this gets a 7.6 on here

reply

Ok Trapped in Paradise was pretty good but it wasn't because of Cage

reply

Matchstick men was good
So was lord of war
He's made better movies that are much better than wind talkers

The Rock is one of them

I agree although most action movies are pretty crappy too. I thought this one was a bit better than most because I liked the story. But yeah, the 'comedy' was pathetic, some of the acting was laughable, as were many of the characters, and the action was pretty lame too.

LOl, I dont think so.

If anything, its quite the opposite.

The characters' dialogue are still being quoted today.

Metal Gear video games (one of the biggest video game series of all times) are directly inspired by this movie because it became pop culture. Just like Die Hard and Escape from NY.

The game creator even copied the music, hiring one of the composers of this movie to score the game's soundtrack.

Its also one of Nic Cage's most memorable performances. This is the only action movie in which he does his eccentric acting style. He even does his classic spastic seizure that won him the Oscar in Leaving Las Vegas.

It is perhaps Sean Connery's most memorable character after James Bond.

To me, It is Ed Harris' most memorable role as well. Every time I see him, I think of Gen. Hummel guy from The Rock.

As for the action scenes, I feel sorry for you. If you think conventional SFX destruction, extravagant death scenes, and F-18 Hornets flying underneath the Golden Gate Bridge isnt special, then you have been seriously desensitized by *beep* CGI comic book based movies.

I dare you to name what the best action scene in a movie is. I just want to get some insight on what you think are good action scenes.

I think the introduction to Nicholas cage's character is pretty amazing but the rest of the movie seems mediocre yet still pretty fun to watch. It's a guilty pleasure.

It wasn't as good as I've heard some people claim, which is probably because I didn't see it back in its day, but it's still a better Michael Bay movie. His terrible humor is more prevalent in his later movies, though there is some here as well.
