Mongolian fighting tradition?

The Quest seems like a Bloodsport meets Street Fighter project in that it deliberately showcases different recognized styles against each other (e.g. Capoeira, Sumo, Savate, etc.).

So I'm wondering, is there a tradition of unarmed combat in Mongolia that I was previously unaware of? Now I'm sure having to live in that particular area of the world definitely helps to toughen Mongolian people. But is there a distinct martial art in Mongolia like there is in Thailand or Okinawa and such?

Don't get me wrong, Abdel Qissi gave the character of Khan a very intimidating aura. But I had to raise an eyebrow at the thought that he could so easily have thrashed the Muay Thai fighter as to make him look like a ragdoll. After all, Muay Thai fighters have frequently pulverized Karate and Kung Fu experts in the ring.

ACtually yeah.

It's called Mongolion Wrestling.

Search for it on the web, it's pretty cool.

Either that or maybe San Shou, which is pretty impressive too

Also chaquan, which was taught to Mongolian people by a Chinese general a thousand years ago. However, I got the impression the Mongolian fighter was also a wrestler.

mongolians have been fighting people for, you know, a couple of thousand years - more likely the fighter was taught by someone who was taught by someone...and they just use what works - why picking the american boxer, who fights within defined rules, was a wierd idea
