Did this movie launch EVERYONE'S career?
I mean, it's almost mind-boggling, how EVERY single face you see in this movie is a ridiculously familiar one. Hard to focus on the story when you see Truman's wife, the rich dad from 'Cutting Edge', Frasier's dad, the Narrator from 'Fight Club', the simp from 'Pretty Woman', Fletcher's wife from 'Liar, Liar' ..
..like what the ?? EVERYONE is someone you recognize very deeply from other movies. Of course some of those movies were made before this, others after this, but it's a REALLY weird conglomeration of all kinds of super familiar faces from more impactful movies, so it's difficult to focus on anything this movie tries to tell you when all you can think of is 'Where do I know THAT face from?' or 'Why is Fletcher's wife in this?' or 'What the heck is Frasier's cranky dad doing here?'..
How do you take Frasier's dad seriously in a position of authority after seeing him in that vulnerable, cranky position for so many years? All I can think of is 'Fletcher' and a more interesting movie when I see that woman's face, and of course Truman's wife still gives me the creeps every time I see her.
What a weird movie, it's like they gathered some kind of B-list All-Stars or side characters ball where new actors or unknowns aren't given a chance.
I know in 1996 Edward Norton himself WAS an 'unknown', but dang, how things have changed.. also, it still doesn't change the fact that everyone is 'someone'.
I mean, this happens in movies, the hollyweird actor pool is limited, so you see the same faces in many movies, but this many in the same movie just blows up the moviewatching experience to little splinters.. holy cow, that's all I can say.
Edit: Oh mi gosherden! Even the COP from Fargo is in this?! Are there no unknown faces whatsoever? Haven't seen them so far..
