Is this worth seeing just for Edward Norton's performance?

I was wondering if this was worth seeing just for Ed Norton's performance because I saw some of this on TV and wasn't very impressed, but Edward Norton is an awesome actor and he got an Oscar nom for this.

i think ed's performance in this made it a better and more interesting film than it actually is. richard gere was good too, but laura linney, she was crap.

Norton was definately fantastic in it, he had me completely fooled! But I agree that Laura Linney was crap ;-). She just bugged me so much.

I wouldn't say that. the film has much morethings worth to see, hear and think about. But IMHO, the question wad all that other forms of art left aside, "Is this worth seeing just for Edward Norton's performance?"

The short answer would be YES, it is...
The not-so-short answer would be: Yes, it is, but it also has many other things that you will find amazing.

I found edward nortons acting absolutly sublime in this movie! you really should watch it for him. Richard gere (who only has one expression to use in his acting, or that extra one for special occasions) was, well, the same as always...

Yes.

Actually, Gere kind of surprised me - he wasn't a complete trash. See it. Norton blew me away again ;)

Yes, this film is worth seeing for Norton's performance alone, which is magnificent, but we're talking about a film with a compelling story and an equally compelling turn from Richard Gere, in one of his best roles as Martin Vail. Gere matches Norton note for note and Norton's performance would not have been nearly as effective without the brilliant straight work from Gere as Norton chewed the scenery.

reply

Yeah, Ed is brilliant in this movie, if you're a fan of his it's a must see, and it's a pretty good movie even when he's not on the screen.

norton is the only reason why i watched and liked this movie

reply

This is one of his best movies.

Yeah, what kind of mental patient kills herself? That's just crazy- John Constantine

Linney was supposed to be a bitch, therefore crap...she pulled it off. Maybe not the greatest cinema in the world but a good movie nonetheless...

You have no idea what you are talking about...do you?

reply

ditto. and when you say liked, i replace with loved.

reply

oh yeah...Ed's a beast.
