i vaguely remember what the alarm clock was, but in my memory i have a picture of a monkey playing drums. and if thats it, i dont think it was just made for that movie because me grandfather has a bunch of alarm clocks and i think he has one like that...but if its not the one i'm thinking of, i think they were just popular in the 90s and still, wasnt just made for the movie. but I dont know where you can buy them...sorry.

I dont know if this will help much but here is a page with some info about one that sold on ebay. There are links to a couple of others like it that sold on ebay as well.

It appears to be from the 70's acording to the auction. I personally would place it later than that but I am not an expert. There is no mqanufacturers name but one auction lists what seems likke a model number. If you google that number, it simply references that auction.

Anyway we know that they DO exist outside of the movie and may turn up on ebay sometime. You need to be a member of "worthpoint" to find out the value, but they are rare and everyone here wants one.....including ME.
Good luck!

I bought one on ebay.
Plan on bidding in the triple digits (before the decimal point); or dont bother. You may need to get a paper route for the summer to pay for this thing.

OK; I know everyone is looking for this clock. I will share what I know and hopefully it will help those who are genuinely intereted.

First; Unless you are an extremely lucky person and find one of these at a garage sale and buy it cheap......plan on this clock costing a LOT of money. Think on the order of the cost of a couple of "Screaming Banshee" tickets for one in excellent condition. These are out of production since the late 90's and are considered highly collectable.
Finding one that is complete with all of its parts, is rather difficult. They are often missing the cymbals or drumsticks or both. Dont panic if these parts arn't there; as long as the clock is otherwise working. These parts can be made fairly easily from a piece of wooden dowel rod available from a craft store or hardware or home improvement store. You might not find the exact size because the originals are metric, but buy one that is slightly larger and sand or grind it down to fit the holes. Craft stores should have some small round wooden discs. Drill a hole in the center, big enough to slip them over the dowel rod. If you want, you can paint the discs with gold paint to make them look more realistic. The complete clock can be seen here in this video:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gMXMBdmLnkc&feature=search It shows the complete working clock around the 4:25 time mark in the vid. Use this to see what a complete clock should look like.
Keep in mind that clocks that are complete will most likely cost more than ones that are missing some of these pieces, but auctions are dependent on how badly people want this clock. If you find one listed that does not have all of its parts, and the seller doesnt mention the missing pieces, contact them and let them know what is missing. You can send them a link to the previously mentioned video if they question what you tell them.

2. What to look for.
Check ebay or other auction and sale sites etc. Search for the following: RHYTHM Gorilla clock. It Also may be listed as RHYTHM Monkey or Ape clock. The manufactures name for this clock is "one man band"; which might be useful if the seller knows the actual name. The model # is 4RE423. RHYTHM is the manufacturer of the clock. RHYTHM made a number of alarm clocks with animal themes. Personally I think THIS is one of the nicer clocks as far as the animation and how the clock actually sounds. There are four actual "programs" controlled by a switch on the back. The program used in The Paper Brigade is the #2 selection. There is a volume switch on the botttom for Hi and Low. The clock runs on 3 AA alkaline batteries.
The clock is a bit smaller than you would estimate from seeing it in the movie, but its still pretty cool.

I will try to check in here once in a while. If you have any questions, I will try to answer them, but what I have posted here is what I know from my own experiences. If anyone has any other helpful info, please feel free to add it to this post.

GOOD LUCK!
Let us know if you succeed in getting one.

Well its been almost a year since I posted the info above. I have checked back from time to time but the only reply I see is one which has been deleated.
I have a piece of trivia about the clock in the movie. It is owned by the director, Blair Treu. He likes to sneek the clock into his movies. I spotted it on a dresser in a movie called "Little Secrets". It was in the commentary where he revealed that he owned the clock and had used it in other movies. I think The Paper Brigade is the only one where it was actually seen up close and functioning as an alarm clock. There was a different alarm clock on the night stand next to the bed in "Little Secrets"
I can tell you that there have been a few of these clocks listed on ebay since I have posted this. Much to my surprise I have seen some go for under fifty bucks but others have gone over one hundred. The cheaper ones were missing some parts but nothing major. These are still hard to find. Other model clocks from Rhythm show up more frequently and most sell fifty to over one huundred bucks.
This at least gives everyone a price range on these clocks.
You will probably need to be agressive and want one rather badly to buy one on ebay. I have not found any listed elsewhere.

If anyone has successfully purchased one or at least bid on one, please share your experience with us.

There is one up for auction on ebay as of 3/29/2012. There are 3 days left. The price is currently in the 30 buck range at the moment. It is used and complete and even includes the original box. It is listed as Rhythm "One Man Band" clock

I dont think this theme is getting much attention anymore. Whoever has replied to my posts has deleted them for some reason.
In any event, there is one of these clocks currently on ebay as of 12/04/2012.
There are 5 days left. There are currently no bids and the opening bid is $69.99
This is how it is listed: GORILLA PLAYING DRUMS RHYTHM OF JAPAN ONE MAN BAND ALARM CLOCK.
This would make a nice Christmas gift for someone or for yourself.
(No this is not MY listing and I have nothing to gain financially if you buy it.)
Interestingly enough the last one of these sold for only $44.00. The price seems to be dropping. Maybe the interest in these has gone down a bit. I paid a lot more than that for mine. I enjoy having it and that is what counts.
Good Luck if you bid.

Hey guys!

After some digging, I finally found Gunther's famous Alarm Clock! Here's the link: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Rhythm-Rock-One-Man-Band-Monkey-Drummer-Speak-Up-Alarm-Clock-Vintage-/111659815598.

There's ALWAYS money in the banana stand!

I found the archive of the one you posted. it went for $47.00. Not bad, but not good either. The market for them is variable. The one you posted was missing one drumstick AND both symbols, which the seller didnt mention the missing symbols. The clock worked however.
The drumstick and symbols can be made from wooden dowel rod and some wooden discs available in craft stores. The clock sizes for the holes are metric so the rods may needed to be sanded down a bit where they fit into the clock, but it can be done. I described this in an earlier post.
There is one currently available on ebay for around $175 with all its parts. I'm not posting the link but you can search Rhythm Gorilla clock and find it. It is listed under the actual name Rhythm "One Man Band' clock.
Its a pretty steep price.
You can also check the site called ETSY. They show up there too.
