If only he'd put the lesbian sex in this one...
Then it would get the recognition it deserves.
Don't get me wrong, Mulholland Drive is one of my favorite films, but it doesn't hold a candle to Lost Highway.

hmm, I would say that "Twin Peaks" is perhaps David Lynch's best known work, and that doesn't have any lesbian sex ...
shareNo, but probably many lesbian undertones.
share...hmm, I don't recall any lesbian undertones either. It was all heterosexual. One Eyed Jacks, FleshWorld, Audrey's crush on Agent Cooper...for Donna and Laura, there was nothing to suggest that their friendship went into anything romantic. Donna falls in love with James in the pilot.
Interestingly, having re-watched "Lost Highway", there is plenty of nudity and sex in this film, and one moment in a porno video that hints at lesbian erotica.
Towards the end, there are a few lesbian interactions in this movie.
shareSadly I think you're absolutely right. I've long suspected that the gratuitous lesbian sex contributed to Mulholland Drive's underserved recognition. You're correct about it not holding a candle to Lost Highway. I found it to be one of the worst movies I've ever seen. Just incoherent nonsense from start to finish.

Which one? Because critics say the same of both films.
MD is my favorite film of all time so we'll agree to disagree. But LH gets a 4/4 from me also. Love them both and watched both more times than I care to admit.
Just because you didn't understand the movie doesn't mean it's "incoherent."
shareI slightly prefer Mulholland but LH is phenomenal. Both are masterpieces but I prefer the atmosphere and texture of MD. LH is just brutally dark, like a mushroom trip to hell with no escape.

Well put.
You one between Lisa Boyle and Patricia Arquette? Yes that will do nicely.
