It's about a saxophonist named FRED MADISON and his wife RENEE. Yep. What? Do you need to know more about the story? I'd like to tell you, but it's hard to express it with words. Or drawings. Or puppets.
Surreal movies, like all movies, need good plots and characters. How can that be achieved with so much ambiguety? Well, "good" doesn't have to mean "complex;" it can mean "relatable," "fun" or even "interesting." The beginning of this movie falls into some of those groups. We don't know much about FRED & RENEE, but we know enough to care. Too bad it doesn't last.
