I'm guessing Lynch has epic dreams that don't conclude or go anywhere
I had one recently. It was going so well in the dream. It felt like a real big mystery was unfolding, but had no ending because I woke up. Yes I know mysteries are fun not to explain, but it could be part of his process not to even know how to conclude something if he got it from a dream.
