She seemed to have a good niche going as a bit of a "darling" type lead actress in films like Beetlejuice, with her career peaking in the early 90s with the successful dramas 'Thelma & Loise & 'A League of Their Own'. My conjecture is that along with that weird pirate adventure movie she did around this time (Which was a massive bomb) I think this movie encapsulated a misguided, against type "action chick" direction she took with her career which probably contributed to her getting fewer big offers.
