She's no longer married to Renny Harlin, so I don't know if he'd attempt a sequel. I remember reading somewhere that he wanted her to try this specific action niche.

I was just thinking the same thing! I know that Shane Black was really beat when the film bombed at the box office, but if they made a sequel, I bet you it would turn a triple profit! Just stating the facts! I'm not usually for most sequels, but because this one bombed the first time, they really wouldn't have much to lose.

Uh, what? The fact that it BOMBED is the reason why no one will FUND the sequel. "...wouldn't have much to lose?" WTF? How does one come to THAT conclusion?!?!?! That sentence makes absolutely NO sense......

I loved this movie and was sad that it bombed, since LOSING money is a sure fire way for no one to make the followup. I mean ...would YOU put your money into something that looks like it will lose money? get real.

Dr. Kila Marr was right. Kill the Crystalline Entity.

The fact that a movie bombs does not guarantee that they won't mass-produce lame-ass "sequels" for the DVD market, even if it means ignoring the root of the first movie, like they did with "The Butterfly Effect". It would probably turn into a generic "Alias" clone.
