QUESTION: SHOOTOUT SCENE WHEN HE RESCUES THE GIRL

When Bruce's character goes to the hideout where Doyle's guys are protecting the Mexican woman, why do Doyle's guys get up to shoot him when he asks about her? He was already working for Doyle at the time and Doyle sent him out there to check on her. How did those guys know he wanted to rescue her?

They were already protecting the girl when he agreed to work for him, they couldn't have known. They weren't necessarily going to shoot him until he started shooting. They were probably just being cautious since they weren't sure who's side he was on.
