Why oh Why did Walter Hill and the producers reject Elmer Bernstein`s great score, his score is so much better then Ry "I must hire him because his my friend" Cooder
Thankfully Varese Sarabande released the unused score on CD with over 30 minutes of score

I personally thought the score was awesome. Perhaps Ry is his friend because they have similar tastes? The score Bernstien isn't necessarily bad, it's just not what he was looking for in this film. I think he made the right choice.
