shareOf course it rains in the desert. Where do you suppose the Rio Grande come from? Deserts, by definition, get 0 to 10 inches (0 to 25.4 centimeters) of rain a year. The deserts in the southwestern US get 7 to 10 inches (17.78 to 25.4 centimeters) of rain and it usually comes during a brief rainy season (which explains the torrential rain depicted in the movie).

It was summer, if I remember correctly (Bruce's character said it was hot as hell in one scene), and the desert southwest has a summer monsoon season, where thunderstorms hit every couple of days or so (I live in Phoenix, AZ; also in the desert, so believe me when I tell you this).
