Joan Plowright, born in 1929, was EXCELLENT in Bringing Down the House. To go from something like Jane Eyre to House is awesome. I see she will be soon be in a movie called, Bronte - who happened to write Jane Eyre. I wonder if it has a special meaning for her? I look forward to it, I like biographical movies more than most fictional dramas.

She is an incredible actress. I even liked her in The Scarlett Letter, though I really disliked the movie.
I first noticed her in Dennis the Menace and thought she was the cutest thing! I esp liked her in Tea With Mussolini.
You can "normalize" any behavior, but it doesn't make it right.
I'm so glad to see that others appreciate her and her body of work, as I do. I caught one of her movies on cable that I, of course, never heard of as far as my local theaters. It was "Mrs. Palfrey at the Claremont". I originally watched it because Rupert Friend was in it and I thought that was an odd pairing, but it was really a quite lovely, sweet story. My husband gives me a lot of flak and teasing for all the Brit movies I like ... much rather that than all the blood, guts and mayhem that Hollywood turns out.
One question ... Why would there be no pictures of Dame Plowright? None here on imdb (to speak of) or elsewhere on the web. I realize most of her career has been on stage, but surely there are some earlier photos of her somewhere. I'm betting she was quite a looker. Such a class act!
