It's interesting how when I watched this as a kid I liked watching the action scenes and animation, but didn't understand a lot of the underlying Catholic themes such as lust, guilt, and forgiveness, the concepts of Heaven and Hell. I also completely glossed over stuff such as attempted infanticide, psychological manipulation, prejudice, and Esmeralda's sensual dancing.

Seriously. Which is why I think it's so stupid that people freak out about this movie and think kids should never be aloud to see it ever. When I was a kid, I totally didn't get or even really think about how one of the major themes was lust or another was guilt or forgiveness. All I cared about was how I liked the songs and didn't like Frollo and wished people would be nice to Quasimodo like Esmerelda was.
