Can anyone please fill in some blanks, like who are the other Cynobites a well, I hear there is alot more of them & what do they do?

The man with an aptitude for black magic in France was the one who commissioned the original box. Pinhead was a captain from Vietnam that became a Cenobyte in Hell. The box is just a portal between Earth and Hell. Doesn't necessarily "summon" cenobytes.
shareWhen Pinhead was Elliot Spenser, he fought in World War I, not Vietnam. Joey was having dreams about her father being killed in Vietnam, and during one of her dreams, the Vietnam war morphed into the battle of Flanders during World War I which Elliot participated in, with Elliot eventually appearing and explaining to her that "a dream of one war is a dream of all wars" which allowed him to find her and bring her to the limbo between Heaven and Hell he occupies.
Also, while the box is a portal, it does summon the cenobites, as the solving of the box pulls them through the portal to Earth against their will.
