I agree, I kind of understood his intentions in the fourth installment, however the cuts made in the film made he seem like a Mafia Don out of Good Fellas ordering hits and extorting people to work for him as oppossed to what we saw in the first three films. I also hated that film politics and disputes with the script and a rotating door with directors did not help either. All the drama associated with this film made the substandard, in addition to making some of the characters come across as stupid. If you watch the material that they left out of the final product, it actually explains alot of the hellraiser mythos and makes the story more interesting, however when you start making crucial editing cuts, you lose something in the process especially when it comes to character development. Pinhead was never meant to be a leading character, instead a minor character, when the producers and directors start rushing to get Pinhead more screen time, then you lose something in character development. I think the franchise went down hill when Dimension retained the the rights, they rushed to pump up bad scripts and appease hellraiser fans as oppossed to developing a quality product and sadly the franchise pays.
