I thought about that, because they could have made the fake hand to go over his, like a glove. But....then it wouldn't have been so FUNNY! It would have just looked like a regular arm. And the running joke with the hand wouldn't have been as funny.

Gluing the broken hand pieces back together so they look like they've been badly glued back together after the truck rolled over it, is sheer genius.
