Certain Quote

Can someone please refresh my memory on a certain quote from the film?

When Delaughter sees Charlie Evers at his radio show, Evers says something like...."before the devil knows your dead". That's all i can remember, real faint.

Would appreciate it if someone could clarify the quote.

Thanks.

The quote is: "May your soul rise up to heaven, for the devil knows your dead". I was just watching it and thought about your quote so I thought I would help you out.

Have a Great Day!

Good quote, also a varation of an Irish drinking toast "may you be in heaven for a half hour [or 15 minutes, or hour] before the devil knows you are dead."

I know it as an old Irish toast or wish. This is the whole thing as I know it.

"May you live as long as you want to, and want to as long as you live, and may you be a half an hour in heaven before the devil knows you're dead"

Charlie also said that 'Robert Johnson made a deal with the devil so he could play so good.' ;
