strange SJP odes not appear in the opening credits of the film strange?
strange huh?

I noticed this too. Elizabeth Berkley and Marcia Gay Harden are both in the opening credits but not her.
haha i shouted "YES!" when i read the topic. this is one of my favorite movies ever and sjp is one of my favorite actresses and it is sooo strange she is not in the opening credits considering her role was fairly large.
shareShe probably didn't make it in the opening credits because she wasn't the big star she is today when this movie was made. She hadn't become a household name yet. That's my guess why she didn't make it in the opening credits.
shareIn addition to Sarah Jessica, Rob Reiner, James Naughton, and Heather Locklear also appear in this film unbilled.
shareThat's not true...she was in many big movies before this. Girls Just Wanna Have Fun, Flight of the Navigator, and Footloose to name a few. She also played Annie on Broadway when she was younger...
shareSome celebrities choose not to be credited. I think that was the case with Bette in "Where's Shorty".
shareThe industry seems to be a bit dodgy when it comes to credits. For example, everyone has heard about producer credits where people who had nothing at all to do with a movie are credited with being an associate producer, or whatever else. Just why they would want to mess around with actor's credits must lie somewhere in some sort of negotiations. Less credit in this movie in exchange for a juicy part in an another upcoming movie?
The business of the industy is creating illusions.
It's a bit ironic considering that the word credit derives from the Latin credere "to believe." Hollywood is not to be believed, and that's the way they would want it.
but was she a big name back in 1996? sex and the city only came on in 1998
Lawyer:You sir are a moron
Homer:A Mormon,but I'm from earth!
She was a celeb - she appeared in award show and talk shows and did movies and tv. You saw her and she was in magazine and around. I remember seeing Sex and the city ad for the first time thinking it was perfume ad or something with Sarah Jesicca Parker as the face for it. Haha silly me.
shareMaybe not a huge name, but she was in a TON of stuff before Sex and the City. I remembered her (when I saw First Wives Club) from Hocus Pocus back in '93 (also with The Divine Miss M). Plus before Sex, she did Ed Wood, Mars Attacks!, and a few others that were quite popular. I still remember her from Mars, as she ends up with the body of a dog. Fun scene.
sharePerhaps it was because she wasn't one of the "first wives" — she was one of the "twinkettes" that the husbands had left their wives for.
What was strange (and somewhat embarassing) is that I forgot she was in Footloose!
The West Memphis Three are free!!
I noticed this as well. Stockard Channing also is not listed in the opening credits.
Both actresses were well-known and enough presence in this movie to be listed.
sometimes well known celebs who have supporting parts either volunteer or are asked not to be in the opening credits so as not to take away from the main players.
This is what happened with Bill Murray in TOOTSIE.
Dorothy stop that, Mr. Ha Ha`s lookin at you!!
