College girls at the beginning

Hi there, does anyone think or know if the actresses playing the younger versions of the characters were dubbed over with the voices of Goldie, Bette and Diane? They sound really realistic.

Yeah I think so too, esp. Diane Keaton's younger version.

Are you saying that real life isn't like the movies?

reply

I was wondering that. They were all dead on. lol They were cute!

Did anyone else feel like they were graduating in the 1950's? Because that's not possible if this movie took place in 1996 and they're all between 45-46. Because then they were born in 1951 and if they graduated from college when they were 23 or so, then it would have been 1974.

In the beginning of the movie it says it was 1969 when they graduated, which would have put them at about 17 or 18.

Boarding school?

I think it's one of those things where maybe the movie is taking place earlier than it was released. Let's call it 1991.

you can tell if you watch very closely that theyre voices are looped lol

Yeah, I noticed that, which I thought interesting. However they did an AMAZING job in casting the girls. You rarely see that good of matching in features for younger versions of older selves. Usually you're lucky if they have the same eye color but these girls looked so much like them I couldn't help but wonder if they were really related to the older versions. Alas, no, but that just means the casting director did that much better of a job. Wow.

It was brilliant to dub their voices, that's for sure. I think all of the girls except Cynthia's (Channing's) hit the characters dead on. But young Cynthia did nothing for me in any type of resemblence to Channing. She was even taller than the other girls, and Channing most-likely would have been the shortest of the four (she's only five-two). That kinda ruined the whole experience for me, as she's my favorite.

reply

Young Elise and Brenda were dead on. Young Annie was good too. I also agree that young Cynthia didnt do it for me. Regardless though, they really did do a great job! Best "younger version" casting Ive ever seen!

reply

Well it's a film, so maybe Channing's character was taller than the other girls, since we never see them together after their college years. It doesn't have to reflect real life, so Channing's real height is kind of irrelevant.

reply

Unless you actually KNOW her height. A whole 5" 3--and I'm being generous. Kind of IS relevant to those of us whom are very aware of that fact.

Of course they were, moron.

What a dumb question.
