The sad thing about this movie....

It's sad that all three of their husbands left their wives for younger but far less attractive women especially Sarah Jessica Parker. She didn't look great at all. I remember going to the movies and seeing this and thought, what in the world was wrong with Diane Keaton and Bette Midler? Godie Hawn looked better after she fixed herself up in the end, even the therapist who Stephen Collins character was with wasn't that good looking, but I guess it's a mid-life crisis thing. They all were very spunky women also.

Hope it doesn't hit me when I'm 40.

I think it's mostly about the body and not the face. And you're forgetting Stockard Channing's husband left her for Heather Locklear. And she is beautiful. But going back to the body thing, in some cases, when someone had a mid life crisis they go for someone younger or choose something different than their normal habits.

I liked it in 1996, when it came out but man it has not aged well. The three husbands? Yuck. A real life gay dude, a convicted sexual predator Stephen Collins, and the ugliest man who ever lived Dan Hedaya. The story it was based on was obviously terrible. The direction was quite poor. Clumsy acting when it wasn't over acting. Keaton was embarrassing. Midler was grotesque as always with her huge head. Hawn was ok but her real life plastic surgery was a running gag. The lesbian sub plot was hollow and a waste of those involved.

No, Elizabeth Berkley and Sarah Jessica Parker were pretty hot. Marcia Gay Hayden isn't glamorous but a nice looking woman nevertheless. The only real looker of the main trio was Goldie Hawn.
