I really like how the film makes you think that the DeNiro character had played baseball at a pretty high level when he was younger, the way he often refers to his past matches, playing with his good friend Coop. Then at the end you find out it was just LITTLE LEAGUE! The dude was batsh*t crazy from the very first scene and we didn't know it.

Not to mention Coop doesn't seem pleased to see his old friend again, which implies Gil was always "off" even when younger.

Unfortunately it introduces a major plot hole. He played little league in another state from the news clippings shown, yet him and Coop wind in San Francisco, and Rayburn's kid is at the little league field Gil used to play out?
