Scene never shown in final cut
I remember seeing an early screening of this movie in 1996 (much of the film was still raw and had a lot of storyboards in the scenes) But one of the scenes that never made it which i thought was good was that after Gil saved Bobby's son from drowning they hung out and talked for awhile. Bobby even invited Gil to their home game that night and Gil got to sit in the dugout. Gil actually noticed the opposing pitcher dropping his arm motion or something indicating that he will be throwing a curve and sure enough the next time Bobby comes to bat Bobby notices the pitcher doing that and hits a home run. They go back to Bobby's beach house afterward and that his when we see the scene of Gil pitching to Bobby on the beach wearing his old jersey and Bobby realizes that Gil is nuttier than an Almond Joy.
I wonder why they didn't leave that scene in or have it on any of the deleted scenes.
