Actually it is based on another medical thriller of the same title, written by
Michael Palmer...have seen both movies and read Coma as well, it is a medical thriller but I think they have more differences than similarities....
I'll have to read that book. I'd say Extreme Measures is underrated, but in my opinion the film Coma from 1978 is the real forgotten gem.
shareIt is not an exact-copy in my opinion. I agree there are many similarities: e.g. the chase in the clinic, the question of spoiling your career when not cooperating with the leading doctors.
The search for the subterranean tramps is more or less comparable with the search in the Coma institute. The hall scene with the two cops in the end reminded me to the end scene in Coma, when the policemen are waiting outside the Surgery Room.
In spite of the fact that Hugh Grant is doing great, Coma is the better one..
