Hugh Grant Wonderful In This Movie

Hugh Grant was great in this movie. This is the first time I have seen him in this type of movie and I really enjoyed his acting. I wish he would do more movies and would play more serious roles. IMPO he is overlooked as the great actor that he is. He is really funny and I enjoy his comedies too.

I agree completely. Before I had seen it, someone told me he was totally miscast as an in-charge kind of person taking life-or-death decisions, but I thought he was utterly convincing, also in the ER scenes at the hospital.

Lorenzo D. I agree as well, Hugh Grant should try to do more
serious dramatic roles like this one. He too
often has starred in dumb comedies with very
stupid and bad scripts. I'd like to see him
in another serious movie like Extreme Measures.

I agree completely! I thought he was great in this movie, in a serious role, totally convincing, even my dad liked Hugh in this movie and my dad can't stand him usually cause he always plays the aloof wimpy british posh man, so that's saying something. Lol

i agree!he is excellent in this movie.

Rest in Peace~Heath Ledger~

agreed, this movie deserves better credit. good from start to end. Loved when it came out and still good today.

He did some serious works before Four Weddings and a Funeral (1994). After this movie's box office failure, he chose to star in the genre which made him a international star (romantic comedy). Overall, he is a great actor and both this movie and his performance were excellent.

He was on a talk show the other day, talking about doing "other" work and mentioned this flim with "14 people saw it." It had to have been a disappointment to realize people wanted to see him only in one role.

I just saw this tonight for the first time and while it is a departure from his usual roles, I thought he did an excellent job in it. The movie itself kept me on the edge of my seat, especially during the elevator scene at the end. I also thought it was interesting that you couldn't tell exactly *who* was in on the scheme or who he could trust.

As for the ethical dilemma, is there ever a moral excuse to to use evil to create good?

I can't understand why this movie flopped and why I hadn't heard of it before. I'm telling all my friends to give this one a look.

He's a good dramatic actor. Hope he has a go at it again sometime.

When I saw that he starred in this movie, I almost decided not to watch it... Very glad I did, gripping movie. Very emotional too.

reply

this is exactly why this movie didnt do well people who usually like thrillers were put off because of him. Shame because he was very good and so was the movie.

He is actually a very strong actor away from the rom coms and it showed here.

Its that man again!!

Hugh Grant as an action hero, who'd have thought?

OK a slight stretch. This movie is another of my guilty pleasures.

Agree with just about everyone on this board. He was very convincing in his role and it's a shame the movie wasn't more successful as Hugh noted himself in a typical wry sort of manner.

one of his best

I totally agree. I always liked his acting, particully in this movie. And its a shame this was the only thriller he ever did.

He was in Sweden a month ago, check out Hugh Grants board, i did post a link to the clip where he is interviewed, and saying that he is giving up acting :(
