So instead of contaminating eastern USA they decided to try to re-direct the plane and dump the nerve agent over the inuits living on Greenland??? Isn't that nice?

Well millions of people live in built up areas of the eastern US and thousands of people live in small settlements miles apart in Greenland so going to Greenland is the lesser of 2 evils.

Plus there would be no point for the terrorists in detonating it over Greenland.
