Seagal was given second billing?

Well he's Steven Seagal. Almost Chuck Norris. Anything is possible

I think that was part of what gave this movie some legs. The Monday after it came out, everyone was talking about how SS died at the beginning. Totally unexpected considering the billing.

If it´s an WITH or AND spot,it rearly matters how long a....big star...is in a film. Seagal was big in 1996 and...he didn´t get second billing. Since his name only is on some of the posters and on most it´s not and since...like Hackman in The firm...he is too big a star to even be billed(Rewatch the film,you never see Seagals name)so what we got was a cameo=An uncredited performance by a big star.

Besides,where should his name be placed? Between Leguizamo and Oliver Platt? Yes,in a fair World where talent matters,then yes.

Seagal opposite Russell ... I wasn't surprised he didn't last and Russell would hold the movie together.

It was set up to make the mission look even more difficult. If Seagal makes it on the plane, you expect him to take out the terrorists single-handedly.
