shareWatched this again the other day. Rarely have I seen a movie so set up for a sequel as this one. I'm not sure whey they didn't. They could have easily cranked this out a bunch of these. Did it tank at the BO?
shareIt made $55 million worldwide on a $15 million budget, so the film was a hit.
A sequel was announced in 2016. Why it took so long, I have no idea.
Here's the last update:

Who knows if the project will ever actually come together.
Sounds more like a soft reboot/remake than a sequel.... In any case I don't think whatever it is is needed.
shareYeah, it doesn't sound like it will have much at all to do with the first film. I am down for it though if it is actually well-made.
As I was just saying to BR2049 above, there aren't a lot of films like The Craft so maybe a sequel/reboot isn't a terrible idea. It needs to be good though, and just not a cheap cash grab.
I'm down for anything if it's well made lol
It feels a little bit like they're adding The Craft in there to capitalise on title recognition though. If it's a whole new set of characters they could've just written an original magic/witchy movie.
But hey, if it happens, and it's actually good, there's nothing wrong with giving it a little help I guess. The thing is, The Craft is such 90's perfection that I don't know if they can recapture its magic.
I'd say it's best to keep expectations low while hoping for a pleasant surprise. That is, if the film ever actually gets made, which I am not convinced will be the the case.
Regarding The Craft being 90s perfection, I'd probably agree with that. It's a such a well-made movie and, as you say, it just has a certain something to it that broadcasts the fact that it is indeed a 90s film. I don't say that as a bad thing.
